Current Republican Office Holder: Carol Brydge

 The Clerk of the Circuit Court is a constitutional officer elected every eight years and serves the citizens of the County of Augusta.  Carol M. Brydge began her career with the Augusta County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office on January 1, 1989 and became Clerk on January 1, 2015. 


The Office of the Clerk of Circuit Court dates from 1619.  From those early days until the present, the Clerk’s duties have changed significantly, but the office remains vitally important to the residents of each county and city.


On Feb 24th, 2019 Carol M. Brydge unexpectedly announced her retirement effective April 1, 2019.  A special election is expected to be held on Nov 5, 2019 to fill her position.
